About a month back I had the privilege of photographing some of my favorite people. The Delgado and Tavares families were neighbors and have been some of my dearest friends over the past few years. So naturally when they asked to do a family shoot the only response was excited giggling and immediate "YES!!"
It's family portrait season again!
When I received the call from the Grimes family asking to do portraits again this year, there simply was no hesitation. Last year's session had been a blast so I knew we could only build from there.
Today begins a new project for me: Bottles.
I've always found bottles interesting. They are and interesting mix of design and pure function which together make a very interesting piece to photograph.
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Grimes family a few weekends back. Nathaniel and Kiana are great people. Together they made for a hysterical afternoon but when you also toss in their adorable pooch Karl Barx (Yes, You read that right) into the mix you get some amazing pictures.
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of photographing Rosie and Corey's wedding in my home town. I've known Rosie since we were kids and went all the way through school together which only added to the splendor of the day. Watching her and Corey together it's easy to see how much they care about each other. Getting the chance to be a part of this day was simply wonderful. They both were a joy to work with and made my job so much fun!
This weekend I got the chance to photograph Rosie and Corey Trump's wedding and it was fantastic! The ceremony was held at Rosie's family farm and we had a BLAST! Though the weather was uncooperative it was not about to rain on their parade! We used the rain to our advantage and made some wonderful photos!
I saw a Moose. A freaking moose! Actually two moose! Our family vacation to Utah was a big success and staying at White Pines lake in the Wasatch Mountain range was absolutely gorgeous!
Wes and Amanda have been friends of mine since we were in high school. When I received the text message that they had gotten engaged I was super excited. I was honored to capture these photos and had an absolute blast at the Morton Arboretum.
When John told me he was ring shopping I was ecstatic. I was ever more excited when He and Cheryl (his wonderful bride) approached me to shoot a set of engagement portraits for them. This shoot was an absolute blast. John and Cheryl were so much fun! This was the most fun I think I've ever had.
When I got the text from my friend Mary Poulter that her entire family was looking to have portraits taken, I got excited. I hadn’t seen Mary in a few months; we were both involved in theatre at Judson. In meeting her family, I began to realize where she became so talented!
I got the chance to shoot my brother-in-law’s Senior portraits last fall and it was an absolute blast! Ryan is a great guy and it takes a special kind of man to rock a kilt unashamedly but thats him. Shooting in a few different places in Kewaunee was a lot of fun and provided some classic Wisconsin scenery.
So about a month back Ashley calls me and asks “Want to go to a concert tonight?” Now you may not know that I gigged out with a band for about 3 and a half years, so my immediate response was “YES! Absolutely!”
Another short post today!
The Bull and Bear is a fantastic little shop in downtown Saint Charles Il. I’ve spent many an hour in there just soaking up the aromas and getting to know the regulars that frequent this shop. This something just wonderful about taking time out of my schedule to stop and just rest for a few minutes.
This is the camera that started it all! My dad began to teach me how to shoot on this camera when I was about 8 years old. I brought it to my apartment a few weeks ago as a reminder of him.
Anna Cooper is one of my dearest friends at Judson University. Her innate ability to say something insightful, yet side-splittingly amusing makes for wonderful conversation. She is also one heck of an artist. I had the privilege of shooting this with her a few weeks back and it was a great afternoon.
So this semester at school has gone haywire on me so posting had to go on the back burner for a short time. But don’t worry I have been consistently shooting and have lots of photos that will incrementally make their way up onto the blog :)
I got the chance to do a shoot for some friends in Tecumseh, a pretty sweet band started on Judson’s campus Friday afternoon. I have been learning many new techniques about lighting subjects well from Zack Arias’s OneLight seminar and with this shoot I finally was able to put some of it into practice.
Shot this while scouting the park I shot Seth and Jacqui’s engagement photos at. It may well be one of the strangest statues I have come across.
On the weekend of November 18th-20th Judson Theater performed another production called The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. I got the chance to shoot this one for promotional purposes for the Theater Department.
Two weekends ago Ashley and I had the chance to celebrate birthday’s with her young cousins Hayden and Dylan and it was a blast getting to see these guys!
I had the opportunity to photograph Seth and Jacqui, two of my best friends, this past week and I’m very pleased with how the photos turned out!
So here we are again…posting away in the wee hours of the morning…when we should be considering sleep…something tells me this is going to become a pattern. Oh well, such is college life.
There are days that I enjoy my job. And then there are days I REALLY enjoy my job. When Rob Wallace contacted me to do photos for his family 3 months back I knew it was going to be fun, but after 5 minutes when his clan began singing show tunes in harmony, it became an all-out blast.
